Spurs set to save another 30 million.

 Mug shot of Marcus Edwards
No mug; he's Spurs fans next tip for the top.

Sun-tanned and six-packed, well four or five anyway, I 'm ready for whatever the Premiership and the Champions' League throw at us. Hopefully the lads are the same. Exciting times!

In the original version that came out as 'hypefully'. Never mind, a little hype goes a long way and at the moment we are well under the radar. Long may it continue.

No 'mega-star' signings to excite the Press; established players (Dier and Wimmer this week) on new contracts; a genuine striker at last (Janssen) to help and assist Harry, another hard man in midfield and a possible replacement for N'Jie. ( Georges-K√©vin N'Koudou )

Sticking to the facts, Clinton hasn't quite gone and Georges hasn't arrived. Mason and Chadli are rumoured to be under offer. Thankfully Steve Bruce didn't get the England job so we still have an outlet for our discards up in Hull. Oh wait...

Unfortunately Sam Allardyce did so I don't expect much change in England's fortunes in the foreseeable future though he's not as backward as he appears and sometimes makes out.

Wayne has welcomed the appointment. Well he would wouldn't he? Takes me back to when, in another life I went to Departmental Meetings, under a terrible Head of Dept. who was roundly disliked and despised.

All meetings used to end with the same weasel proposing a vote of thanks for the fine job the Head of Dept was doing, and not a trace of irony. He got promoted long before me.

But Sam's an old hand and won't fall for all that. With five in the squad at the moment we can only lose out if the new broom sweeps too clean. Baby, bathwater Sam.

Worryingly Eriksen hasn't had time to fill in his new contract so we definitely need another midfield creative to put to good use the work of the tough guy ball winners. Perhaps Edwards is the man and very cheap too.

So far we have found some bargains but midfielders of the calibre of Christian won't come cheap. N'golo Kante an earlier preference of mine went to Chelsea for 30 million plus.

Our war chest still has 20 million in it allegedly and could be supplemented by a further 20 million from all or some of Chadli, N'Jie, Mason, Carrol, Pritchard and Bentaleb who are all rumoured to be on a one way ticket out of WHL.

Squad for the Australia trip.
For the Champion's Cup no less. Well it's nice to be asked.

Senior players rested clearly but a blend of experience, development squad and Marcus Edwards from the Academy, shop window stuff and new blood. Lovely!

Marcus Edwards of whom we have high hopes scored and assisted against Rotherham in a behind closed doors, cloak and dagger outing and Jansson too from a Trippier cross.

It's not real football out in Australia but it's better than the starvation diet we've been on and I include the Euros. I am pleased that most senior staff have been spared the rigours of jet-lag.

We play Juventus and Atletico* Madrid. My 12 yr old grandsons are at the Atletico* Madrid Foundation training ground this week and had their new boots signed by several Atletico* players. Both want new boots now.(* edit)

They played their final tournament matches on Sunday morning at the training complex near Segovia and have attendance certificates to prove it. Great location, lakeside and terrific experience for them.

With so much potential among our own youth Spurs need to have a good look down the back of the sofa anyway before getting the cheque book out, another Harry Kane might be lurking down there.

Jimmy's dream of an all Academy starting eleven raises its (ugly) head again, well in my (ugly)  head anyway. Please don't mock the afflicted.

Jimmy's Video Spot:
Another actual signing, a real striker at long last and already tucked one away against Rotherham.
He was awarded the 2016 Johan Cruyff Trophy, the Dutch "Talent of the Year" award.

Pochettino and Champions' League clinched it for Spurs and VDV says he will hit the ground running. Well he got that right . Welcome to Spurs.
